Class and elegance being in his genes, designer Lalit Sengar, is all set to astound the Indian fashion industry with his uber chic and eccentric designs with a good dose of Indian textile at Lakme Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2014 with an eclectic collection christened sylvan swain.

The collection draws inspiration from the art nouveau era. The ornamental style of architecture distinguishing each characteristic of Art Nouveau is undulating in this asymmetrical line. Taking cue from the detailed architecture, mega structures, motifs, art installations, home decor, and other delicate and sinuous natural objects keeping the masculinity of forms intact; the line is elegantly and gracefully infused with a powerfully rhythmic and whip like force. In the graphic arts the line subordinates all other pictorial elements – form, texture, space, and color – to its own decorative effect.

The collection is a mystique of Art nouveau era based on Indian textile and sensibilities, keeping the summer trends and details in mind and cutting edge designs and impeccable tailoring to deliver stylish & elegant and comfortable prêt line for men and women. Every single detail is well crafted and carefully observed till finishing. The collection has a very old world charm of its own.

Keenly observing its characteristics Lalit has evoked the grace and beauty of art. Customizing block prints along with hand embroideries and screen prints blended with Indian textiles like cotton, chanderi cotton, and linen, with fine craftsmanship and finishing, the collection will be a distinctive compilation of spectacular flowy yet structured ensembles. A palette of beige, pastels, off white, grey, white transfused this into a glamorous and elegant line.

Focus is kept to the multiform layering and draping in forms of separates which can be teamed up with absolutely anything to make you look quintessential.

About the Designer & Brand

Lalit Sengar is based out of New Delhi, India. He is a graduate from the prestigious fashion school NIFT, New Delhi. During college he was trained under the most prominent business house TATA Group for their leather processing & design cell based out of Indore, after a while he started working with several craft clusters to teach and train them to earn the livelihood with the craft they are good at like banarsi, baagh to name a few. He has also worked with Ministry of textiles to enhance the local crafts across India. Working with FDCI and WLIFW was another different experience where he handled fashion week for few designers, all together a great fashion experience before entering into main stream fashion.

His first formal training was with a UK based brand NEXT where he was working closely with accessory head, forecasting the new trends. After that he fetched an internship design project with the most coveted designer RINA DHAKA and handled her marketing, clients, designing, manufacturing unit and fashion week as a whole project. Just after that KABIR LEATHERS happened to him, where he handled the hi-fashion leather brand and was the head R&D for various international brands. Just after that he entered into Indian market and start working with designer duo Shantanu & Nikhil, and also S&N tie-up with ADIDAS.

In the spring of 2011 he started with his own luxury label SENGAR which is based out of Delhiand now fully involved in the business. SENGAR successfully retails in London and Spain with its women’s wear collection apart from its Delhi based studio.

Lalit has been represented in LET’s DESIGN Season 04 for Zoom TV as upcoming designer of India and was also seen in the most celebrated Hollywood design show DESIGN GENIUS Season 01 representing Asia for FASHION ONE, he was among the few favorite contestant of International celebrity designer INDASHIO. Lalit has taken the brand SENGAR to Hollywood and is working on few more Hollywood costume Design projects.
