New Delhi, September 2016: It was a glamorous night at Vivanta by Taj, Dwarka when 11 men from all across the country celebrated glam, fashion and competition at the grand event of Mr. India Manhunt International.
Powered by MIBQ pageants and directed by Bir Kaur Dhillon & Rose Khaira’s WOWW Foundation,the event was organised to promote and acknowledge; new faces for the male modelling and fashion industry.
Bir shortlisted 11 potential candidates who further battled for the coveted title of Mr. India Manhunt International in a four day long event showcasing their talent, persona, flair and confidence that further lead them to reach the Grand Finale of the pageant.
The shortlisted contestants were mentored by S A Anand (grooming coach) and Ketan Bhatia along with the fitness guru Tarun Gill on the following aspects
• Time Management & Self Assessment
• Fitness & Nutrition
• Confidence Building
• Ramp Walk & Self Presentation
• Photo-shoots
• Personality Development
Contestants were evaluated during the course of the pageant through personal interviews and various recreational activities, out of which Treasure Hunt was enjoyed the most by the boys. They also had one on one interaction session with Jamal Sheikh and Rajit Kapoor which helped them boost their moral and confidence for the judgement day.
The event was well organised and directed by HP Gill, director of The Rock Events. The judging panel comprised of renowned fashion designer Rohit Kamra, Bir Kaur Dhillon, Jamal Sheikh (Editor of lifestyle magazine, Brunch), Sanjay Sahu, Umang Monga (owner, Harrison locks), Vikram Berry, Anurag Batra (Chairman and editor in chief, Business World) and HP Gill.
Bir Kaur Dhillon said, “It’s not only about cameras and being famous it is more for self realization. And I am really happy to see the improvement in the boys in these four days.”
Mr. Jamal Sheikh from Men’s health Magazine said, “You can’t win this pageant with just six pack abs but a personality is the thing a person should have along with the right values.”
Mr. Anurag Batra, Chairman and editor in Chief of Exchange4media said, “If you dream of something you will definitely get it. I am looking for a dreamer with an over all personality, as a dreamer can change the whole world.”
The criteria for selection was based on the sub contests designed to test the candidates in a variety of ways through a series of challenging events, competitions and other rounds that gave the pageant winners in categories like Mr. Talented, Mr. Fitness and Mr. Intelligent to name a few.
As the event progressed judges announced their decision and awarded the coveted titles to Gurmehar Grewal from Chandigarh as Mr. India Manhunt 2016 who will be travelling to China for the battle of Mr. India Manhunt International, followed by Eklavya Sood from Solan, Himachal Pradesh & Alester D’souza from Mangalore, Karnataka as first and second runners up respectively.
Along with the medals and the certificates, winners were awared with amazing bicycles from HERO Cycles and they were also gifted world’s thinnest phones from Micromax.
The stylings and the direction to the show was given by Ketan Bhatia and to add the panache to the night, contestants were seen wearing Rohit Kamra’s collection which caught the fancy of all and made everyone mesmerized, he created the modern maharaja look of the contestants.
Tarun Gill, Fitness Trainer was very happy as he could mentor the boys to gain confidence and helped with the overall personality development.
Suchismita Sahoo who did photo session with the boys; gave them tips for photo shoots. Elvis, the creative director – was delighted to see his vision become reality. He & his team members including Alan Reeve and Christopher Dass who took care of the photography department were overall very excited along with the students of VIDM- Institute of Design and Management who helped managing the event.
